[Well, that sure happened.
Setz wonders if something is broken in him, that he can't express horror or shock like others. Maybe he's too desensitized to death; maybe he's just tired. Either way, though, he knows it still isn't right.
Someone has been erased. This "Game" is serious.
Restless (where do they go from here?), Setz is wandering around the area. It's then that he notices Akira and, after a moment, hesitantly approaches him.]
... How are you holding up?

[Setz is smart for giving Akira a bit of space. his anger isn't always outwardly explosive, but it came awfully close to being so after Utena's death (double. . . death. . .) was announced. so the time allows himself to take a few deep breaths and distance himself from what just happened]
[he's isolated himself near Buchiko's statue (Hachiko still didn't sound right to him, and he couldn't bring himself to think of the statue that way), hip resting against same as an opened and half-drunk can of sweet soda hangs from one hand. when Setz approaches, he'll notice that his gaze is distant, affixed on a random point in space, like he's deep in thought]
[but he hears Setz's voice and glances up, blinking a few times]
Oh-- [he isn't used to people asking him this question] I'm. . . fine.
[hesitation]
I'm more worried about Himemiya-san.

She must be grieving. It's not easy to lose someone you care about.
... Still, I hope she doesn't do anything drastic. [He's had... bad experiences with how other people respond to grief.] Even if she's to be erased as well in a few days—if we can't prevent that—there's still...
[Still what? He isn't sure. Nevertheless, he hopes she can keep it together, at least for tomorrow.]

[jesus]
[Akira lifts a hand, and scrubs tiredly at his forehead. it almost looks like his fingers are tracing a very specific pattern there]
I hope she doesn't do anything drastic, either.
[Anthy doesn't strike him a the type, but hey. he doesn't know her that well]
I know I said it earlier, but I want there to be something else we can do. Other than going along with that trial junk.

[It's too much like how Lark's reasoning was when Angela died. Too much like how Nil still is, last Setz saw him. Not again.]
That said, it's easier said than done. We don't want our host or whoever's pulling the strings in this Game to just dispose of us for being brazenly defiant...
no subject
Mmm. You're right.
[as much as he hates that]
We don't even know who they are, or what they're capable of. Picking a fight with an unknown enemy at this point is just. . . stupid.

I don't think you're wrong.
And technically, finding all of them-- however many there are-- is the fastest way to end this game within the rules we've been given.
[there's a heavy but in the air, though. based on what Akira said about not wanting to go along with tomorrow's trial, Setz probably knows what that but is]

Still, it's too early to assume we can't achieve another outcome... right?
[Yeah, he gets that but.]
no subject
It is.
[too early to assume they can't achieve another outcome, he means. they can keep their heads down for now, sure. . . but]
I can't accept an "as many people as possible" ending, though.
Don't get me wrong; I'm not advocating for an "all or nothing" approach. [abso-fucking-lutely not] But if I can?
I want to save everyone.
[because while everyone here may have died back home, all of them deserve that second chance, to make up for being drawn into this shitty excuse for a game]

[and Akira has no response other than silence as he lifts his drink to his lips for another swig, gaze flickering away]

Sorry. She was an acquaintance of yours, wasn't she?

[if he's feeling angry and upset over her dying after only knowing her for like, six days, then he can't imagine how Anthy feels right now]
She was tough. She had a positive attitude, and a strength of will to be admired.
