[Vowing to keep himself together better this time—Maya has enough to deal with without his emotions in the mix—he sets off to find her.

... He doesn't really know what he's doing, or what words he could possibly say. He's never been good at this kind of thing, but... it doesn't feel right to just act as if nothing is happening. (What would he want if he were in Maya's position? He isn't sure.)

Though he makes a valiant effort, it's hard for him to hide his awkwardness as he approaches Maya. The fact that he doesn't say anything at first likely doesn't help, oops.]
